The Orangerie museum

Come and admire Monet’s "Nymphéas" and the collection of an art lover particularly fond of Cézanne, Renoir, Matisse and Picasso…

After several years of refurbishment, the Orangerie museum, based in the Tuileries gardens, provides two collections which symbolize artistic creativity at the beginning of the 20th century.

The private Walter-Guillaume collection, which contains more than 100 canvasses, offers the vision of an enlightened art lover who recognized the geniuses of his period: Cézanne, Renoir, Le Douanier Rousseau, Matisse, Picasso, Derain, Modigliani, Marie Laurencin, Soutine, etc.

The living heart of the museum meanwhile lies in two vast and subtly lit oval rooms, housing the magnificent collection of Nymphéas by Claude Monet. The vision of this gigantic mural work, which has come to symbolize Impressionism, is an aesthetic experience in its own right.
