The Jacquemart-André museum

Discover the treasures of a couple of collectors – works by Fragonard, Rembrandt, Botticelli, etc. – exhibited in a sumptuous mansion.

Nélie Jacquemart and Edouard André dedicated their lives and their fortune to collecting the most beautiful pieces of French, Flemish, Dutch and Italian art from the 15th to the 18th centuries.

From their travels, they brought back French masterpieces from the 18th century by Nattier and David, the most beautiful canvases by the greatest Flemish and Dutch painters from the 17th century, such as Frans Hals and Van Dyck, without forgetting artists from the Italian Quattrocento, like Bellini and Uccello. The collectors also acquired an exceptional range of furniture from the Louis XV and Louis XVI periods, and numerous precious objects from the Orient.

All the Jacquemart-André couple’s pieces are now on display in the museum which bears their name – a magnificent building dating from the Second Empire, located a stone’s throw from the Champs-Elysées.
