Philharmonie de Paris

Inaugurated in January 2015, the Philharmonie de Paris is a unique musical creation and transmission project developed by Jean Nouvel.

The Philharmonie de Paris is the brainchild of Jean Nouvel (Philharmonie 1) and the Cité de la Musique (renamed Philharmonie 2), a building designed by Christian de Portzamparc and inaugurated in 1995. The result is a gigantic space designed for music in the Parc de la Villette, in the East of the capital city. The Orchestre de Paris and the Ensemble Intercontemporain reside here.

The concert hall, with 2,400 seats, is the crown jewel of Jean Nouvel's project. It was designed in collaboration with worldwide renowned acousticians, the New Zealander Sir Harold Marshall and Yasuhisa Toyota from Japan for perfect acoustics.

In addition to hosting concerts (classical music, world culture and jazz, world cultures), the Philharmonicputs on conferences, exhibitions and workshops. An educational hub with 1800 m² was designed to initiate young people and adults into a symphonic universe.
