Musée Cernuschi

The Musée Cernuschi is one of the oldest museums in Paris and is now the second largest museum devoted to Asian art in France.

Housed in a Neoclassical style mansion in the Parc Monceau, the Musée Cernuschi hosts five permanent collections, each showcasing Asian art, especially from the Far East (China, Japan, Korea, etc.). One of the most admired works is the Meguro Buddha, a Japanese bronze dating from the 18th century.

Unique in Europe, the collection, which includes the greatest painters of imperial China, is also greatly appreciated by visitors. Ranked sixth among municipal museums in Paris, this mansion is named after Henri Cernuschi, an Italian banker who became a French citizen. This art collector (who owned around four thousand works) bequeathed his home and collections to the nation shortly before his death.

Thanks to its international reputation, the Musée Cernuschi welcomes around 60,000 visitors a year.
