Henri Cartier-Bresson Foundation

Henri Cartier-Bresson created his own foundation, reflecting the great events of the 20th century, as he was a remarkable photographer.

Henri Cartier-Bresson has marked the history of French and global photography with its zoom lens. Known for the graphic precision of his compositions, which have never been cropped for printing, the French artist has not missed a single important event of his time, placing his sharp eye on the battle of the Spanish Republicans, the victory of the Chinese communists, the last moments of the war, Gandhi's peace movement in India... A pioneer of photojournalism, he also excelled in art photography.

It was the longevity of his work, for nearly 70 years of his life, which enabled him to make up an extraordinary collection of historic and splendid photographs. All these works are preserved at the Henri Cartier-Bresson foundation, in an elegant studio in the Montparnasse district. A collection of rare richness, but also a space for reflection, open to other contemporary artists, to whom exhibitions are dedicated three times a year.
