Espace Ados at the Pompidou Centre
Based on the children’s workshop, the Pompidou Centre now offers its adolescent visitors a space for artistic experimentation.
We tend to think they are more interested in video games than contemporary art . But adolescents are eager to leave their consoles and get involved in new visual experiences. This is what the Pompidou Centre is betting on with a special space just for them: a sort of laboratory of new trends, in a refined and futuristic decor, which is sure to surprise them.
Dreamed up by famous designer Mathieu Lehanneur as a neutral and multi-purpose structure inspired by the rollercoaster, the 250 m² Espace Ados regularly organises manual workshops run by contemporary artists. They can start to learn artistic practices and carry out highly varied experiments in the fields of visual art, dance , music and cinema.
Not forgetting the sort of cultural entertainment they are more accustomed to: videos and video games as well as various digital forms of dissemination and design.
