Eglise Notre-Dame de la Consolation
A cément Church. This construction by the Perret brothers is considered a work of art, sober and pure.
Cement and only cement. Nicknamed 'the Holy Chapel of cement', this modern church was left in its natural state. In the beginning of the 20th-century, the Perret brothers, Gustave and August, had the idea to design a building as a temple to the modern material used to create it...cement.
Inside the church, the bare space is dotted with thin cement columns and inundated with light. The natural lighting comes not only from the large windows, but also from the openings in the bells, identical to those of Medieval lantern towers. A work of modern architectural art, now classified as a national monument, will surprise you by the beauty of its simplicity.
