Château de Breteuil

With its immense park, gardens and waxwork figures inhabiting the château, Breteuil is an ideal family outing.

A stone’s throw from Paris, in the heart of the Chevreuse valley, sits the Château de Breteuil. The Breteuil family, which is among the most illustrious in France, has owned this immense estate for several generations. The current building presents a harmonious 17th-century façade in white stone and pink brick. But if you look carefully, you will glimpse a few remnants of the original fortress, including the dovecote.

Children and adults will enjoy the tour of the castle, brought to life with the waxwork characters produced by the Grévin museum. Parents look at the dress and customs of the time while their children gaze in wonder at reproductions of Red Riding Hood, Tom Thumb and other heroes from the tales of Charles Perrault, which inhabit the castle and its outbuildings.

Outside, the magnificent gardens and a gigantic 185-acre park await visitors. After feeding the deer and the ducks, loose yourself inside the enormous boxwood maze… A place for daydreaming – for all the family.
