In January 2013, the Opéra national de Paris will stage a major project that it has been preparing for several years: it will perform the entire tetralogy of ‘one of the major composers, in all disciplines, of our civilization’ according to its director. Richard Wagner’s four works will be performed and produced by the Opéra itself: the Ring cycle with The Rhein gold, The Valkyrie, Siegfried and Götterdämmerung.
On this unique occasion to honour of the bicentennial of the birth of the German composer, all the most talented musicians and singers from the Opéra de Paris will be gathered in full force, from Torsten Kerl to Sophie Koch and Martina Serafin. The public can choose to attend one part or the whole cycle over a period of ten days.
