Studio and apartment of Suzanne Valadon and Maurice Utrillo
The Musée de Montmartre opens new exhibition spaces so visitors can immerse themselves into the lives of the painters of the Butte Montmartre.
Two events will take place at the Musée de Montmartre this autumn. The first is the opening to visitors of the Hôtel Demarne, built in the 19th century, and where Claude de La Rose lived, one of the actors of Molière’s troupe, as did Père Tanguy who used to sell paint to Impressionists. The hotel now welcomes major exhibitions and offers a tea room opening onto a garden on the ground floor.
Another highlight is the opening of the reconstructed studio and apartment in which Suzanne Valadon and her son Maurice Utrillo lived for many years. A bewitching place that had previously hosted painters such as Raoul Dufy and Émile-Othon Friesz.
These beautiful new spaces add to the superb collections displayed in the Maison du Bel Air and to the Renoir gardens.
