Two painters are brought together through the paintings they created on the banks of the Seine. An opportunity to explore the surroundings of Paris.
An old tavern of the 19th century, La Grenouillère was the meeting point of many artists, including Monet and Renoir, who immortalized the place and its surroundings with several paintings undertaken in the same year. From collections outside France, these paintings that have become icons of Impressionism, were rejected by the public of the time...
The exhibition invites you to stroll along the banks of the Seine to the heart of this busy tavern, which people frequented for the fun of dancing and the joys of swimming and boating.
Also focused on the artistic, social and political atmosphere of France in 1869, the exhibition offers you a thorough overview of the bright and vibrant paintings of the two Impressionists, one of which has mysteriously disappeared...
