A gallery dedicated to the history of the Palace of Versailles
The history of the Palace of Versailles is now showcased for the public in the brand new gallery dedicated to its architectural history.
Located at garden level on the north wing of the Palace, the gallery is composed of eleven rooms in succession, completely transformed for the event, including the installation of a lift for disabled visitors. Coming at the beginning of a tour of the palace, its purpose is to complement the visit with explanations of the architectural evolution of the palace and the large restoration works undertaken in the 20th and 21st centuries,in partnership with Google to better illustrate the complexity of the site.
Various types of works will be featured in this gallery detailing the palace’s history, including the project itself dating back to 2010. Visitors can discover some original paintings and sculptures showing the location and the main players of this project, but also models of the stagesshowing the construction of the palace.
