Le Parc du Château de Groussay

30 hectares of grounds surround the 18th century château. It is little known but set in idyllic surroundings and bursting with history.

The Château de Groussay, built in 1825 and located in Montfort-l’Amaury, is surrounded by 30 hectares of grounds with attractive features and undeniable beauty. This huge estate first belonged to the Duchesse de Charost, daughter of Madame de Tourzel, governess of the children of King Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette.

In 1938, it was bought by Charles de Beistegui, who gave it its 18th century Chinese and Anglo-Swedish character. In 1952, two wings were added, one of which leading to the theatre, several ‘follies’ and 14 ‘ornamental constructions,’ anachronistic features that follow along the promenade and offer an amazing view of the surrounding grounds.

The grounds of the Château also contain remarkable trees, such as maples, a sessile oak, a Northern red oak, a Lebanese cedar, a ginkgo, American tulip trees... Since 2001, the new owner of the Château de Groussay gives the public the opportunity of enjoying its setting and the beauty of its grounds.
