Le Jardin des Plantes

A large garden dedicated to fauna and flora, this Parisian site has delighted botanical enthusiasts for several centuries.

For nearly four hundred years, the Jardin des plantes, which opened in 1640, has welcomed the public! Succeeding the Jardin royal des plantes médicinales, created by Louis XIII in 1635, this exceptional site with its unique green landscape and rich heritage allows visitors to discover many historic trees and countless varieties of flowers and plants.

Along an axis structured around five square plantations, it consists of eleven gardens (alpine garden, irises and perennials gardens, bee and bird garden, rock and rose garden, peonies garden, stegosaurus garden, vegetable garden, etc.). It is also home to large greenhouses (desert and arid regions, New Caledonia, etc.), a maze and the School of Botany, which exhibits some 4,000 species of plants.

Ideal for a pleasant walk in the heart of Paris, this botanical garden also organizes throughout the year themed visits, events, exhibitions, festivals, workshops, etc.
