Domaine de Courson

35km southeast of Paris, you can discover a true gem, the Domaine de Courson, a perfect combination of architecture and nature.

The Domaine de Courson has not always been what we can see today. It was initially an empty estate purchased in 1534 by Gilles le Maître, Advocate General to François 1er and first President of the Parliament of Paris. It was not until 1550 that he had the house built.

From 1672, this house was to become the dwelling of a line of parliamentarians, the Lamoignon. It was built in the great French tradition of aristocratic houses, with brick and ‘transparent’ stone, in the manner of the early Versailles.

35 hectares of grounds surround the Château. First of French inspiration, they then took the form of an English garden in 1820, and the lake was added in 1859.

The Journées des plantes organised at the Château since 1982 have given the estate the international recognition it enjoys today. A perfect setting for a stroll in a French garden.
