La Boule Noire

This small venue, a neighbour of its big sister La Cigale, is an unusual and convivial theatre for special evenings and musical discoveries.

It is hard to believe that this small and atypical 100-capacity basement concert hall, right next to La Cigale, was once one of Pigalle’s fashionable “goguettes”. Founded in 1822, it proudly bore a white glass ball lit to attract its regular customers in an area still poorly lit. Over time the ball turned black and gave its name to the venue. Like many other Parisian venues, La Boule Noire has had many lives (cabaret, cinema, dance hall...). Renovated during the 1970s, for the past 20 years it has been a springboard for young and internationally known talent, from all genres (pop, rock, French popular music...). At the bar or on its parquet floor, you can discover new music while chatting or dancing with friends. Promotional events are also held there (Toxic, K.A.P.B) as well as festivals (Les Inrocks, Factory).
