Le Baiser Salé jazz club

Founded by French group The Gibson Brothers, this jazz club discharges the same energy as the group's worldwide hits of the late 1970s!

When they started out some thirty years ago, the Gibson Brothers were the first to combine salsa and disco. The result was a global success! In 1983, they decided to open a jazz club with the same mixing of musical cultures. In the end, the club was more of a concert café, and the brothers didn't stay very long. It was the club's programme scheduler, Maria Rodriguez, who built up the establishment's notoriety. And she's still at it! So while it's OK to refer back to the Gibson brothers, credit where credit's due.

Le Baiser Salé went on to become the jazz fusion concert café, offering a jazz form open to all influences and all musicians. Now one of the most symbolic clubs in Paris for its concerts and unique atmosphere, le Baiser Salé has a knack of alternating some of the leading names in jazz with new talent. In fact, Monday night's Jam Sessions have already kick-started a number of careers; plenty of recognised performers on today's jazz scene started out here. Open from 17:30 to 06:00, the massive horseshoe-shaped bar serves cocktails that are as colourful as the mood.

From 12 to 16 July, don't miss the talented saxophonist behind the Sophie Alour Quintet, often compared to Sonny Rollins.
